Product information "OKAMI Boxing Gloves, Contender, black, 14 Oz"
The durable synthetic leather ensures a long lifespan, while the good padding effectively protects your hands with every strike. Thanks to the wide Velcro strap, the glove sits securely and stably on your wrist, even during intense training sessions. The Thai cut allows for optimal freedom of movement and makes the "Contender" particularly versatile.
For additional safety, the glove features a parry pad on the edge of the hand, which helps when blocking punches and kicks. The fully attached thumb reduces the risk of injury and provides a secure training experience. As a vegan alternative to leather gloves, the "Contender" also convinces with its modern matte black finish.

Care instructions
Artificial leather boxing gloves are easy to care for and durable if they are regularly cleaned and stored properly. Note the following points:
-
Air out after each training
Open the gloves after training, wipe the outside with a slightly damp cloth if necessary, and let them dry in a well-ventilated area. Avoid direct sunlight or heaters. -
Remove moisture
Moisture inside should be reduced after training. Special glove deodorizers or, alternatively, absorbent paper are suitable for this. -
Observe hygiene
Wear bandages or inner gloves during training to reduce sweat and extend the lifespan of the gloves. -
Store properly
Always keep gloves dry and well-ventilated and do not store them in a closed sports bag for long periods.
How to find the right glove size
| Size (Oz) | Recommended Use | Guideline Body Weight |
|---|---|---|
| 10 Oz | Focus pads / Competition / Heavy bag | mostly for lighter athletes |
| 12 Oz | Focus pads / Partner exercises / Heavy bag | mostly for light to medium-weight athletes |
| 14 Oz | Sparring / All-round training / Heavy bag | mostly for medium to heavier athletes |
| 16 Oz | Sparring / Maximum protection | often for heavier athletes or increased need for protection |
The choice of the appropriate ounces (Oz) is primarily determined by the type of training, desired protection, and personal wearing comfort.
The higher the number of ounces, the more padding, weight, and overall volume the glove has – and often also slightly more space inside.
For sparring, 14 oz or 16 oz are recommended in many gyms regardless of body weight.
