At KHUNPON, you can find a wide selection of OPRO Mouthguards for Boxing, MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing and other combat sports. Discover Instant Custom-Fit, Gold, Silver, Bronze and Snap-Fit models as well as dedicated mouthguards for kids and athletes with braces.
OPRO Mouthguards for Combat Sports
A mouthguard is an important piece of protective equipment in many combat sports. It is commonly worn during sparring and competition in disciplines where strikes to the head or intensive physical contact are part of the sport.
OPRO specializes in this area and develops different mouthguard systems for a wide range of athletes and sports.
Depending on the individual model, OPRO Mouthguards can be suitable for:
- Boxing
- MMA
- Muay Thai
- Kickboxing
- Taekwondo
- Karate
- Wrestling
- other contact and combat sports
OPRO – Sports Mouthguard Specialists
OPRO was founded in 1997 by dentist Dr Anthony Lovat and has specialized in sports mouthguards ever since.
The British company develops mouthguard technologies for athletes across a wide range of contact sports, with different systems designed around fit, comfort and impact protection.
Within combat sports, OPRO is also the Official Mouthguard Partner of the UFC.
OPRO Boxing Mouthguards
In boxing, a suitable mouthguard is an essential part of your protective equipment for sparring and competition.
A properly fitted Boxing Mouthguard should sit securely around the teeth and remain as stable as possible during movement. Comfort and fit are particularly important when you are training for multiple rounds.
OPRO offers several different mouthguard ranges, allowing beginners, regular gym athletes and experienced boxers to choose between different fitting systems and protection levels.
OPRO MMA Mouthguards
A mouthguard for MMA needs to remain secure during a sport that combines striking, clinching, takedowns and ground fighting.
OPRO offers different models suitable for MMA and is the Official Mouthguard Partner of the UFC.
At KHUNPON, you can therefore find both classic OPRO designs and selected OPRO x UFC Mouthguards.
OPRO Mouthguards for Muay Thai & Kickboxing
Muay Thai and Kickboxing both involve striking as a fundamental part of training and competition. A suitable mouthguard is therefore commonly worn during sparring.
A carefully fitted mouthguard can provide a more secure fit than a basic model used without an individual fitting process.
The most suitable OPRO range for you depends on factors such as training frequency, desired fit and comfort, fitting system and budget.
Which OPRO Mouthguard Should I Choose?
OPRO offers several mouthguard ranges with different fitting systems, constructions and price points.
At KHUNPON, the selection includes models from ranges such as:
- OPRO Instant Custom-Fit
- OPRO Gold GEN5
- OPRO Silver GEN5
- OPRO Bronze GEN5
- OPRO Snap-Fit
- OPRO Mouthguards for Braces
- OPRO Kids Mouthguards
The individual models differ in areas such as construction, fitting method, comfort and protection level.
OPRO Instant Custom-Fit Mouthguard
The OPRO Instant Custom-Fit represents the premium fitting system within the current OPRO selection at KHUNPON.
It is designed to create a highly personalized fit at home without requiring a professionally made dental impression.
The system combines a multi-layer mouthguard construction with OPRO's fitting technology and a compression cage used during the fitting process.
How Does OPRO Instant Custom-Fit Work?
The OPRO Instant Custom-Fit Mouthguard is heated and then fitted around your teeth using the supplied fitting system.
Flexible fins inside the mouthguard adapt around the contours of the teeth during the fitting process.
The compression cage helps apply pressure during fitting so that the mouthguard can form closely around the teeth.
Always follow the fitting instructions supplied with your specific OPRO Mouthguard.
OPRO Instant Custom-Fit for Boxing & MMA
The Instant Custom-Fit range is particularly interesting for athletes who train regularly and place a high priority on a precise, secure fit.
During Boxing and MMA training, a mouthguard that remains securely positioned can be more comfortable during intense movement and longer sparring sessions.
At KHUNPON, you can find OPRO Instant Custom-Fit Mouthguards in different colors and designs, including selected UFC editions depending on availability.
OPRO Gold GEN5 Mouthguard
The OPRO Gold GEN5 is another higher-level option within the OPRO Mouthguard range.
It uses a self-fit system that allows the mouthguard to be shaped around your teeth at home.
The Gold GEN5 is particularly relevant for athletes who train combat sports regularly and want a higher-tier self-fit mouthguard without moving to the Instant Custom-Fit system.
OPRO Silver GEN5 Mouthguard
The OPRO Silver GEN5 sits between the Gold and Bronze ranges within OPRO's traditional self-fit lineup.
Like the other self-fit models, it is heated and shaped around the individual teeth before use.
Silver GEN5 provides an intermediate option for regular training if you want to move beyond the entry-level Bronze range without choosing Gold or Instant Custom-Fit.
OPRO Bronze GEN5 Mouthguard
The OPRO Bronze GEN5 provides an accessible entry point into OPRO's fitted mouthguard range.
This makes Bronze particularly interesting for beginners and recreational athletes looking for an adjustable mouthguard for regular combat sports training.
Depending on availability, KHUNPON also offers different colors and UFC designs within the Bronze range.
OPRO Snap-Fit Mouthguard
The OPRO Snap-Fit provides a simple and affordable mouthguard option.
Compared with the more advanced self-fit and Instant Custom-Fit ranges, Snap-Fit focuses on straightforward use and an accessible price point.
If you train and spar regularly or place greater emphasis on an individually fitted feel, Bronze, Silver, Gold or Instant Custom-Fit may provide a more suitable fitting system.
OPRO Gold vs Silver vs Bronze
The right OPRO Mouthguard depends on your individual requirements rather than simply choosing the highest-priced model.
- Bronze: accessible entry into OPRO's fitted mouthguard range.
- Silver: intermediate self-fit option for regular training.
- Gold: higher-tier self-fit mouthguard for more demanding athletes.
- Instant Custom-Fit: premium fitting system designed to provide a particularly precise fit at home.
Your training frequency, desired fit, comfort preferences and budget can all influence which OPRO range is most appropriate for you.
How to Fit an OPRO Mouthguard
Correct fitting is an important part of preparing a sports mouthguard for use.
OPRO Instant Custom-Fit, Gold, Silver and Bronze models use model-specific fitting processes designed to shape the mouthguard around your teeth.
The exact procedure can vary between ranges. Always follow the instructions supplied with your mouthguard or the official OPRO fitting instructions for your specific model.
Can You Remould an OPRO Mouthguard?
OPRO states that its fit-at-home mouthguards, including relevant Instant Custom-Fit, Gold, Silver and Bronze models, can be remoulded when required.
If the initial fit is not satisfactory, follow the manufacturer's instructions for your specific model before attempting the fitting process again.
Always observe the specified heating times, temperatures and fitting procedure.
How Should a Boxing Mouthguard Fit?
A Boxing Mouthguard should fit securely and comfortably around your teeth.
A poorly fitted mouthguard that constantly moves around or needs to be actively held in place with your jaw can become distracting during training.
Correct fitting is therefore an important step before using your mouthguard for sparring or competition.
OPRO Mouthguard for Braces
Braces create specific requirements when choosing a sports mouthguard.
OPRO therefore offers dedicated Mouthguards for Braces designed for athletes wearing fixed orthodontic braces.
At KHUNPON, you can find selected OPRO models for braces in different colors depending on current availability.
If you wear fixed braces, use a mouthguard specifically designed for orthodontic use. If you are unsure which model is appropriate during your treatment, consult your orthodontist.
Why Do Braces Need a Special Mouthguard?
During orthodontic treatment, the position of the teeth can change while brackets and wires remain attached to the teeth.
A mouthguard for braces needs to accommodate these specific conditions and provide sufficient space for the orthodontic appliance.
A standard mouthguard should therefore not automatically be used as a substitute for a model specifically designed for braces.
OPRO Kids Mouthguards
OPRO also offers dedicated Kids Mouthguards for younger athletes.
At KHUNPON, the range can include Youth versions from different OPRO series in a selection of colors and designs.
Youth Mouthguards are designed around smaller mouths and therefore differ from standard Adult versions.
What Size OPRO Mouthguard Does My Child Need?
Many OPRO sports mouthguards are offered in separate Adult and Youth versions.
Always check the current age and sizing information for the specific product before ordering.
Children's teeth and jaws change as they grow, so the fit of a mouthguard should also be checked regularly.
OPRO UFC Mouthguards
OPRO is the Official Mouthguard Partner of the UFC and offers a variety of mouthguards featuring UFC designs.
Depending on current availability at KHUNPON, UFC editions can be found across different OPRO ranges, including:
- Instant Custom-Fit UFC
- Gold GEN5 UFC
- Silver GEN5 UFC
- Bronze GEN5 UFC
This allows MMA and combat sports athletes to choose between different fitting systems and price levels while also selecting a UFC design.
OPRO Jaws Mouthguard
The distinctive OPRO Jaws designs are also represented in the OPRO range at KHUNPON.
Depending on availability, Jaws designs can be found across selected ranges such as Instant Custom-Fit and Gold.
The technical construction is determined by the respective OPRO range, while the Jaws graphic provides the distinctive visual design.
Boxing Mouthguard for Sparring
A suitable Boxing Mouthguard should be part of your equipment when you begin sparring.
For regular Boxing, Kickboxing, Muay Thai or MMA sparring, fit and comfort become particularly important because the mouthguard may be worn for multiple rounds during a training session.
A sports mouthguard is designed to reduce the risk of certain dental and oral injuries, but no mouthguard can guarantee complete protection from injury.
Mouthguards for Competition
In many combat sports, wearing a mouthguard is mandatory during competition.
The exact equipment requirements depend on the sport, federation and individual event.
Always check the current competition rules before your event to make sure the construction, color and other characteristics of your mouthguard comply with the relevant regulations.
How to Choose a Boxing Mouthguard
Price should not be the only consideration when choosing a Boxing Mouthguard.
Important factors include:
- fit
- stability
- comfort
- fitting system
- training frequency
- age and mouth size
- whether you wear braces
An athlete who trains occasionally may have different requirements from a boxer who spars several times per week.
OPRO Mouthguards for Beginners
If you are new to combat sports, it is worth getting a suitable mouthguard before partner drills and sparring become a regular part of your training.
With Snap-Fit, Bronze, Silver, Gold and Instant Custom-Fit, OPRO offers different price points and fitting systems for a range of experience levels.
This allows you to select a mouthguard according to your training frequency, budget and preference for fit.
OPRO Mouthguards for Experienced Fighters
Athletes who train several times per week and spar regularly often place greater emphasis on a secure fit and long-term comfort.
Higher-tier OPRO systems such as Gold GEN5 and Instant Custom-Fit can therefore be particularly interesting for experienced combat sports athletes.
The most suitable option ultimately depends on your individual teeth, mouth shape and personal preferences.
What Is a Gum Shield?
Gum shield is another term commonly used for a sports mouthguard, particularly in the UK and Ireland.
When searching for a Boxing Gum Shield, MMA Gum Shield or Martial Arts Gum Shield, you are generally looking for the same type of protective equipment commonly described internationally as a Mouthguard.
OPRO offers Gum Shields and Mouthguards for a wide range of contact and combat sports.
Boxing Gum Shield vs Mouthguard
There is no fundamental product category difference between a Boxing Gum Shield and a Boxing Mouthguard. The terminology mainly depends on the country and market.
“Mouthguard” is widely used internationally, while “Gum Shield” is particularly common in British English.
For both terms, correct sizing and fitting remain more important than the wording used to describe the product.
How to Clean an OPRO Mouthguard
A mouthguard comes into direct contact with saliva during every training session and should therefore be cleaned regularly.
Rinse and clean your OPRO Mouthguard after use according to the manufacturer's care instructions and allow it to dry completely.
Avoid cleaning methods or temperatures that could unintentionally deform the thermoplastic material.
How to Store an OPRO Mouthguard
After cleaning, allow your mouthguard to dry before storing it for an extended period.
A suitable Mouthguard Case helps protect it from dirt and direct contact with other equipment while it is inside your gym bag.
At KHUNPON, you can also find OPRO Mouthguard Cases in different colors depending on availability.
When Should I Replace My Mouthguard?
Regularly inspect your mouthguard for damage, tears, significant wear and changes in fit.
If the material becomes heavily damaged or the mouthguard no longer fits securely, it should be replaced.
For children and teenagers, the fit should be checked particularly regularly because their teeth and jaws can change as they grow.
Can a Mouthguard Prevent All Injuries?
No mouthguard can guarantee complete protection against dental, jaw or other injuries.
A properly fitted sports mouthguard is designed to help reduce the risk and severity of certain injuries to the teeth and mouth, but combat sports inherently involve a risk of injury.
Correct fitting, regular inspection and appropriate use therefore remain important.
Which OPRO Mouthguard Is Right for Me?
The different OPRO ranges provide a useful starting point when comparing your options:
- Snap-Fit: simple and affordable entry-level option
- Bronze GEN5: entry into OPRO's self-fit mouthguard range
- Silver GEN5: intermediate self-fit option for regular training
- Gold GEN5: higher-tier self-fit mouthguard
- Instant Custom-Fit: premium system with a more advanced fitting process
- Braces Mouthguard: dedicated construction for athletes with fixed braces
- Youth: mouthguard options designed for younger athletes
Protection level is not the only factor to consider. Your mouthguard also needs to fit your teeth, training frequency and intended sport.
